Dear Sir:

\J
My company, The LISP Company, has just completed an elegant LISP for
Cromemco on their Z-80; enclosed is a short description of our version
of that implementation.

One concern of mine is to establish TLC's LISP much like UCSD's effort
with Pascal; therefore we need to expand the availablity of our product.
Clearly, the availablity of our LISP on Apple's products would do much to
improve our position. Several of my colleagues who have Apple computers have
suggested that they would like a good LISP.
I realize that your user library offers a LISP, and
at least one independent software house supplies a
LISP for Apple; these implementations are nowhere near as
complete as TLC LISP.
If you plan to pursue either
LISP as a language for personal computing or the
applied Artificial Intelligence applications that LISP supports, you must
have access to a superior product. TLC LISP is by far the most complete
and professionally crafted LISP available for micro computers.

We are currently investigating several extensions and improvements to this
system. One enhancement
is an improved display interface. LISP is one of the most interactive of
programming languages; the current system does not address this issue since
adequate hardware was not available.
A suggestion that might be mutually attractive
is to pursue a joint venture wherein The LISP Company would supply an enhanced
version of TLC-LISP, including the human interface, and Apple Computer
would
integrate that software into an inexpensive personal LISP machine.

LISP is the basis of many interesting applications for both personal
computing and business. What is currently needed is an inexpensive
hardware/software system that can begin to exploit these results.
Are you interested in cooperating in such a development?

I will be out of town January 28-30; you may contact me before that time,
or I will call you when I return.
